MVRT Training? Empty MVRT Training?

Post by swwu94 Sat Sep 17, 2011 2:02 am

So I was talking to one of my friends, do we want to have a day where we go visit MVRT and they train us on something--> they're working on a swerve chassis after CalGames Very Happy
oh and the material they use is kinda cool

I don't know if it would really be worth it in terms of actual learning, but I think that it would definitely help seeing a well-established team and like what they do

Problems: logistics

I would definitely be open to attend that, if that gets organized.

Okay questions:
When do we wanna go?
What do we want training on?
--Website
--Drivetrain?
--Inventor?
How long?
How many people?

I think you should just decide a day, and then change it accordingly. I don't know people's schedule to enough.
I want to learn more about drivetrain and inventor.
I expect to spend at least one whole day, maybe more.
This depends on the amount of people interested. You should probably bring it up with the newbies and stuff first.

Website + DT over Inventor, I'd say, since there's the Ben Geva deal + we're still currently on SolidWorks.
What days do they meet?
I'd say somewhere between 4-10 for DT, depending on how many are interested (I'm assuming this is like...specific, nitty gritty DT focused details they'd teach us, not a basic DT overview for the whole team's benefit? Although I s'pose that either'd work.)
And I really dunno what the interest in website would be like. 2-5 people? We don't need that many, honestly.
However long is good for them, really...

People: 2-3 people
Day: ?
Date: ?

Chain - teach how to chain, correct slack
Motors - CIM
- Soldering - how to solder properly, tips for making it neat
- teach how banebots need to go die in a hole (jk - i am sure you know that already)
Inventor basics - different components, design (I will ask Kumar - mech lead - more about this)
- if time then inventor part/whole of a chassis for practice
- show design for 6 wheel chassis for the offset
Wiring - general neatness, illegal wiring
- Crimping - different types of crimps (we use something called powerpole)
