Re: Workshop Intros
Purpose: To create and design promotional materials through the use of various media to increase awareness of the Aragon Robotics Team
What You Will Learn:
•Photography
oPictures are very important for capturing the productivity of the team. Photos are posted on the website and in the newsletter in order to show sponsors wazzup.
•Photoshop
oUsed for photo manipulation and editing any designs (probably taught by Andrew Yao, though)
•InDesign
oUsed for creating flyers and documents
oVectoring: making the design pretty =3 (pretty much just outlining so that the images aren’t pixely)
•Illustrator
oA combination of photoshop and indesign used for editing designs/drawings
•DreamWeaver
oUsed for creating and updating websites
oYou probably learn some code along with using dreamweaver…just cause it’s more fun that way. =D
•Video editing
oSomething newish…document the team’s building process and awesomeness moments.
•Design
oBeing able to come up with multiple designs is a big part of multimedia. If lucky, you’ll gains some drawing skills, but it anything, learn to take critiques and comments on designs
Things You Will Do:
•Come up with T-shirt designs
•Come up with button designs
•Create flyers
•Make a video
•Edit/design website
•TAKE PHOTOS. LOTS OF PHOTOS.
What to Expect:
•Projects – to learn Adobe Programs, there is a lot of things you really have to figure out for yourself in order to learn; it’s not something you can just listen to me talk about and simply get.
•Homework – to meet deadlines, work will have to be done at home…It’s normally not a lot
•Deadlines – we will work closely with PR, who has to send out newsletters. We have to get t-shirts and buttons done before competition. Send out flyers before potlucks. Stuff
...and Sophia...no one in the office likes you. =]

Re: Workshop Intros
Awesome, guys, these will be really useful for documentation for future generations as well :]
As for the subgroup intros themselves--and we can properly discuss this at lunch--but try to plan something more like an activity, or you know...interesting but accurate demo of some sort that relates to that subfield, rather than just presenting a syllabus-esque summary of what that area covers. Actually seeing evidence of what PR does, for instance, (eg, a newsletter, shirt design sketches, etc.) will be a lot more effective than saying "PR is public relations."
EDIT: Like Ivan's programming plans--the "exercises" part--yeah, that!
Also, Multimedia and PR seem to have some overlap with tshirt design, button design, etc., so Ari/Crystal--might want to clear that up so as to avoid confusion. I'm not saying they can't both be involved with overlapping areas, but what the groups specifically DO with regard to those areas should be made clear (eg, say PR comes up with the tshirt theme/design, whereas Multi is in charge of the vectoring/web promotions/web-ordering-if-we-were-to-do-something-like-that).

Re: Workshop Intros
Agreed. Assuming we have 8-10 minutes (?) each, lectures are too somniferous; plan some activity! I'd advise creating a new topic for compiling each lead's shtuff.

Engineering.
It slightly annoys me that I can't edit that.
